Stitch markers for knitting and crochet

These are stitch markers to use in knitting or crochet projects. Stitch markers are used to keep your place in patterns. Usually, they are used to mark where a complicated pattern repeats or to designate things like sleeves in sweaters. The lobster clasps are for crochet, so you can hook them to the fabric. The ones with rings are for knitting and can be easily slipped from needle to needle. I have no jewelry-making skills, so these are very easy to make. If any jewelry makers have suggestions for improvement, I’m all ears. These are the supplies I used – pliers, seed beads, fancy head pins, links, lobster claps, and the featured beads. The materials shown here would make more stitch markers than I made.

Slip the beads onto the pin.

Bend the pin around the loop on the clap.

If there is no loop on your rings for the knitting markers, just wrap the pin around the ring.

Wrap the tail of the pin around itself. This can be a little tricky, as it can be difficult to hold onto the pieces and get enough leverage to bend the wire. You’ll get the hang of it after one or two.

Trim the end of the pin with a wire cutter. Here are all my completed stitch markers.

I love your stitch markers. I made some with jewelry findings at my local JOANN Fabric store. I like the classic look of silver and gold so I looked for beads in those colors and found some really pretty ones. I cannot crochet because I get lost in the directions of the stitches. However I did teach myself how to knit. My last knitted item was an afghan for my youngest son and his wife. I used cotton yarn and the feather and fan stitch.I put a stitch marker in between each stitch repeat so I would not make a serious mistake. When I finished it I , I gave it to them and they loved it. My daughter in law says they usually fight over who gets to wrap up in it when they watch TV. I guess I will have to knit a smaller version of it for my grandson since he loves that one.
