Here you'll find tales of my domestic adventures and my mostly free knitting and quilting patterns. My most popular patterns include monster baby booties, ski hat with ear flaps, Lotus baby blanket, and men's cable hat.

Isosceles

Published by Shana | Filed under Quilting

When I saw Hoffman Fabric’s Natural Instinct line, I almost passed out from delight at the sight of ‘smoke’, ‘ice’ and ‘eggplant’. So, I impulse bought a yard of each and then proceeded to wage an unrelenting war with it until this materialized.

My nemesis.

Meet my nemesis.

What you’re thinking (I assume) is “cute!”. But really, what you should be saying is, “Here, let me pour you a glass of wine. I know this was rough, but it’s over now.”

Why so rough?

Let me get to the point.

Let me get to the point.

Every. Single. Triangle. Was a struggle. There was a lot of ripping and tugging to get those suckers to even somewhat line up. Pure misery. I think unleashing three-sided angst is a triangle’s modus operandi. Am I right, geometry students?

I'm still waiting for my apology.

I’m still waiting for an apology, quilt.

The next quilt is going to be a four-patch. Four patches would never pull this crap.

(Also, no pattern, because it’s basically the exact same thing as this tutorial. Except she didn’t warn you.)

One Response to “Isosceles”

It looks like you do have your thinking cap on. In one blog you had been questioning instruction giving. I tried by myself to make washclothes with yo (perhaps without sufficient thought, certainly without a pattern) and ended up with too many stitches on one side. Thanks and I’m glad you share your lifestyle in Seattle. I have visited there, I am a dual Cdn/US citizen presently in BC and would like to email again if I have something to say or can find you. Bye, Mary
