Works in progress

Christmas is quickly approaching, and all the good crafters are picking out fabric and yarn. What do I do? Make diversions.
Here’s the start of an afghan I’m knitting. This pattern will be a boarder with another circle-y cable pattern in the middle. I’ve never knit an afghan (I normally crochet, since it’s so much faster), so I think I horribly underestimated the amount of yarn needed. I’m not really sure what the purpose of this is yet. I just got the itch. It might become a Christmas/b-day present. I sure don’t need more blankets.
This yarn will become the most benign socks in the world! Safe enough for even the manliest man to wear without embarrassment. I might try to get this pattern published, so I’m not going to share pics here until that either happens or I give up. A friend also found out that she’ll be having a girl, so a new baby quilt is in order! There have been so many great fabrics lately that I’m really excited to go shopping for this. I think I’m going to do something a little different than normal. Instead of piecing the whole thing, I think I might do a large quilted panel with some pieced borders. Not really sure yet. The pattern will be up around February when the baby comes.
